3 Steps to Becoming like Nehemiah

As Christians we are to strive to be Christ-like. But this doesn’t happen over night. It is a constant struggle in this evil world. But, we can take baby steps and as we grow by studying the word we can shape many of our thoughts and actions to be like those who have been blessed and worked diligently for God. Here are the 3 things Nehemiah did that helped him become closer to God:
• Cry out to God- we should speak consistently to God. Cry for those in need, in trouble and those consumed by wicked ways.
• Confess Sins- when Nehemiah confessed he did not point his finger at all of those he saw being sinful nor did he only confess his personal sins. Instead he confessed on behalf of everyone and included himself as a sinner. However, when praying to God we should each day ask for forgiveness of our own sins. When praying for others we should include ourselves and not merely point our finger. We should share the responsibility.
• Get Involved- getting involved is not only with attitudes and words but with actions. No one can do the tasks alone. We should be asking for guidance from God and including Him every step of the way in order to succeed.
