Abraham’s Faith
November 21st 2010 00:31
Continuing in our Romans study we see a few things about Abraham’s faith that are presented for us, in chapter 4, to learn from and about. Verses 1-6 have wonderful things to focus on.
First, we learn about the justification of his faith. Before Christ we had a lot of do’s and don’ts to live by. These were symbolic gestures to give praise and worship to God our Creator. It was a means of earning our way to salvation. This was the old covenant between God and man. When Christ came we entered into a New Covenant in His blood. We are now, instead of doing ritualistic behavior, to live and walk like Christ. We are the sacrifice and the vessel that is to be presented, not a lamb or harvest that is offered.
The righteousness and reality of Abraham’s faith is also displayed. It was because Abraham believed, with all of his heart and mind, in God that he was saved. His faith was righteous and wholehearted before God.
Salvation is not about works, but about FAITH! The works will go hand in hand but the bottom line is if you do not believe in Him and love Him with all of your heart and mind, you can not and will not be saved. Good works alone will not get you to heaven.
