Christians in the Political & Social Scene

Some Christians are under the impression that as such we are to stay out the political and social scene. But, the bible teaches that we are to become active. In Romans 13, we see that God established government to service people, reward the good and punish the evil. We, as people, are to elect good people to carry out God's plan of government. This does not mean that God will appoint all people to positions, He has left that task to us. We elect them but we are to do so with His will in mind. Therefore, as Christians, we should be sure to become involved so that we can fulfill our duty of a government that is godly. We should not depend on hypocrites that preach one thing yet in their life, they are something altogether different.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 also teaches, “ I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
So, we must do our duty to fulfill the will of God and preserve His commandments. We can do that becoming involved and teaching by way of example. First our hearts must be right with God and right with man. We shouldn't want to indulge ruthless ambition or hunger for power. This is evil. By leading people when we are not right with God, we will working against God, not for Him. Every thought, word and action must be with God and obedient to Him.
