Confusing Scriptures?

Today we have a short lesson, it is more of a study tip. I want to stress the fact that scripture does NOT contradict itself. If something seems “off” about a scripture you read there is likely a translation error. This is why I always recommend a Strong's Concordance. There are a couple of different ones out there that have been tampered with but for the most part are accurate and contain little error in relation to the original manuscripts.
As an example of bad translation in scripture, here is one I have chosen:
Luke 14:26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”
Now, anyone who believes that Jesus would say that is not a biblical scholar obviously and probably does not spend a whole lot of time in the word of God.
The word “hate” in the Greek manuscript, is actually, “love less”. Love less, as in two words, not loveless as in the absence of love. The translator made a big error. But this is why we always go to the ORIGINAL words whenever something doesn't seem right. Then, we can know for a fact what God's word says and not rely on man's mistakes.
So, if you re-read that scripture and use the words original written words it makes more sense. “If anyone comes to Me and does not love less his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.” *What does this mean? Well, it is much easier to see now. You must love Him more than all those you hold closest to you, in order to truly follow Him.
