Dead Men Walking

Let's continue in our next bible study of the book of Romans. Please read Romans 6:1-14.
This is a wonderful description of how we are not to sin when we are saved. We can clearly see a perfect pattern here. We must first realize the reality of our passing. Once we have been saved then we are dead to the flesh. We no longer have to be slaves to sin. The power of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Christ have broken those chains that bound us.
Once we are dead to sin, then we have a righteous will. We are no longer victims but victors! We need to also realize the reality of our position and out potential. We compare our former self to the new creation that we are now and accept our commission. (Ephesians 4:17-24, Galatians 5:16-18)
Being saved has given us a new nature (2 Peter 2-4) because we are new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17) and we have been given a new identity as the children of God (Colossians 1:1-10).
