Q. When did the National Day of Prayer begin?
A. In 1775, the Continental Congress first called for the nation to pray and fast for the country and its people. In 1863, president Lincoln declared a National Day of Prayer. In 1988, President Reagan designates a specific day to forever be the National Day of Prayer.
Q. What is the National Day of Prayer?
A. The National Day of Prayer is when we all join together and pray for the country as a whole, the direction it is heading, the leaders to remain (or become) strong Christians, for the civilians and soldiers to be protected, the nation to be blessed and we also take the time to repent our own individual sins and those that are being committed freely in our country. In addition, we express to God that our desire is that more people would come to know Him and love him.
Q. When is the National Day of Prayer?
A. The first Thursday in May.

- Education: Proverbs 2:3=6, Psalm 1:1-2, Exodus 18:20-21
- Repentance: Psalm 51
