God’s Judgment of the Religious Man (Cont.)
August 25th 2010 18:23
Now that we cleared up the difference between a Christian and a religious man who would rather serve the “religion” instead of God, we will look at the judgments that they face by continuing in Romans 2:17-20.
In this time, the religious men would boast proudly about their lineage and they would stand firm by the idea that they would be saved because they were born of a certain bloodline. They also boasted of the law and stood by all of the rituals of their religion. They boasted of their leadership as if this was a means to enter the gates of heaven.
But as you can see, the confidence was abundant in themselves. They formed their own opinion as to what was important to God.
Matthew 23:15 says:
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.”
