How are We to Test All Spirits
January 22nd 2012 15:16
If you are not blind to the supernatural forces in this world and beyond, you know that there are evil spirits in the world and you also know that God's divine, Holy Spirit is also in the world. Countless people preach and teach what they are taught spiritually. Some of these people may claim that they have had dreams or visions and are led by God, but how are we to know which are led by bad spirits and which truly work for God? The same can be asked by those who have had communications with spirits and/or the supernatural.
As with all things, scripture tells you exactly what to do. Today, let's learn how to test all spirits to see who they work for. Remember, we are NOT to believe all people who say they are being led by the Holy Spirit nor are we to accept all supernatural forces we may come in contact with.
Open your bible to 1 John 4. This is a great chapter for learning how to test spirits.
Verses 1-3: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
Now remember also, that people can preach about a “Christ” but they might mean the false christ. How can you tell that a person is teaching of the true Jesus Christ and not the false one?
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!”
Jesus and His disciples all preached of the true Christ whom lived, died and resurrected- but ALSO who IS coming back again. If ANYONE is preaching a “christ” whose return is not as Jesus Himself said it would be, then you can believe that is likely not the true Christ they are preaching. I must make reference to the rapture theory here. Rapture believers believe in “a christ” who comes first (which Jesus said was NOT Him-that is Satan who comes first according to Jesus you can verify thru Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Revelation along with Old Testament Prophets such as Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, etc.), they (the rapture preachers) preach that we won't be here (when Jesus said we would). It is true that most churches believe in this doctrine and preach it- but remember what scripture says about 2 facts: that the whole world will be deceived except for the elect AND Christ (Revelation) was only happy with 2 churches, the others preached falsely.
This will take many Christians off guard when Satan gets here and many will believe it is the true Christ coming to rapture them out before the tribulation starts. You must study God's word to show yourself approved before God, rightly dividing it whereby YOU can not, and will not, be fooled into worshiping the false one.
