Idols

An idol is anything you worship or desire. To worship is to show reverence for or to honor. For instance the show ‘American Idol’… is a clear picture forming in your brain? Many people associate an idol with a statue like a Buddha or Egyptian god but that is not always the case. An idol is anything you revere. For instance a person or thing you spend more time with than you do worshiping God. Do you keep all things below the level of love and worship you have for God? If not, then you too have an idol.

There are many things we should love and have devotion to (NOT to the exclusion of God, but as part of honoring His will). Family and country leap to mind! I spend a lot of time being thankful to God for my family, my friends and my country.
