Inviting Spirits into Your Life

March 16th 2011 00:30

We are going to start a short study this month about Evil Spirits, so I thought I would kick it off by explaining a few things that you might not know. The following is information that most Christians, who have studied the word of God and the specific aspect of the spirits mentioned in scripture and the power that is over them, know and understand. Without going into small or trivial details that some Christians vary on, I am incorporating only the general or basic knowledge here.

There are certain spiritual laws. One of which is the invitation. We are vessels and we can choose which type of spirit passes through, dwells in us and controls out lives. No spirit has the legal right to enter a body that has not invited it.

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Trinity is: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, it moves freely and touches lives. It dwelt in Jesus and moves through the children of God as we call for it. In Christian prayer life we constantly invoke the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us, and even speak through us to help or heal people.

Evil spirits come from Satan. Just as the Holy Spirit urges us to be kind and loving the evil spirit also has influence, but of pain and destruction.

Invitations can be words or practices. Christians pray and meditate on the word of God and ask to be vessels of the Holy Spirit. The same can be said about Satanic individuals for demonic or unholy spirits. But, aside from flat out asking and consent there are other ways we can invite. For instance a Christian who is a new believer might not know how to pray or meditate (invite with words), so through their actions, attitudes and way of life the Holy Spirit is attracted to this effort to be “like” Christ and follow the word and so it moves through them and works in their life to increase their faith and improve their relationship with God and mankind.

The same can be said for people that don't necessarily have faith in anything (or those who have faith in wicked religions or occults). But, through their practices, they attract evil spirits. From wicked words in songs, to dabbling in magic, seances, etc. the behavior is like a beacon or magnet. So, in short, we don't have to speak words giving our consent, our actions and way of life are an outward invitation. This is yet another illustration that “actions can speak louder than words.”
