Is Capital Punishment Biblical?

Many ask, is capital punishment biblical? The answer is yes. It is very biblical. A Christian must remember the reason behind our faith. Our flesh bodies live and die. This time of living in the flesh is not permanent- it is temporary. God had rules and laws, such as capital punishment, in place to keep order and peace whereby making life more joyful and safe. For any of the actions that require the penalty of death were serious ones that could cause a lot of damage, sorrow, pain and anguish- and in some cases, breed the impulse to commit greater sins for revenge. If we were to keep these laws as they were written, these things would cease happening among us. If every person knew that they would be put to death without a doubt in their minds, almost every person, for fear of losing their own life, would refrain from committing that sin.
Why did God want the death penalty? Because our souls go right back to Him. In cases of murder, the victim is already there waiting for justice. But, in all respects God wants those who commit certain crimes to immediately come home for Him to deal with. If you believe that we do have souls that go on, then the prospect of death (in any regard) should not terrify you, especially when it comes to evil people. God wants them out of our lives, here in the flesh, to minimize the pain we suffer, the evil that breeds and the influence it has on unstable people. Father wants to minimize the exposure of evil in our lives. It is funny how so many people are quick to blame God for “allowing” all of the pain and suffering we endure but then refuse to minimize the exposure of this evil all around us that is responsible for such suffering.
Here are just a few verses that show capital punishment is biblical:
Murder: Exodus 21:14 “But if a man acts with premeditation against his neighbor, to kill him by treachery, you shall take him from My altar, that he may die.”
Kidnapping: Exodus 21:16 “He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death.”
Deuteronomy 24:7 “If a man is found kidnapping any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and mistreats him or sells him, then that kidnapper shall die; and you shall put away the evil from among you.”
Rape: Deuteronomy 22:25-27 “But if a man finds a betrothed young woman in the countryside, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; there is in the young woman no sin deserving of death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter. For he found her in the countryside, and the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to save her.”
Some might say that it “should have been all done away with” once Christ was born, lived and died. But, that is highly inaccurate. Christ said, “I did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it.”
