Is it Okay to be Angry?
February 6th 2011 00:16
Ephesians chapter 4 talks about anger and addresses the question: “Is it okay to be angry?”
In verses 26 and 27, we see that question is answered:
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”
Let's look at this passage carefully. “Be angry and do not sin” this means that we can be angry, anger can be a righteous emotion. But, “do not sin” follows it. This is to say the sinful by-product of anger which the chapter explains as “wrath or vengeance”.
Further in Ephesians 4, in verse 31, we see the sin actions that can come from anger that we are to stay away from. This is where righteous anger can turn evil very quick:
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.”
I urge everyone to read this entire chapter (Ephesians 4). It is very clear about how true Christians behave and what things we must never do once we commit to our faith and a daily walk with Christ.

Good thing the line "...and do not sin" was added right afterwards. Or else we'll have a whole lot more unnecessary violence
