Looking Forward to Hell?

December 14th 2011 16:03
I have heard some ignorant people in an attempt to be funny state things such as, “Can't wait to see (any person's name) in hell- we're gonna have so much fun!” “When I get to hell it is going to be a non-stop party!” etc....

But these people have no idea what hell even is. It is mentioned as a lake of fire (Rev.20). But what happens when a soul is cast into this lake of fire? It is “blotted out” of the book of life (Rev. 3:5), which is to say, existence. When you “blot” something out what does that mean? It means it does exist anymore it ceases to be what is was- it is gone, erased, etc. This means you will be gone and dead and blotted from the memory of all those who knew you as if you did not ever exist. No one will mourn for you, because no one will remember you.

"This means you will be gone and dead and blotted from the memory of all those who knew you as if you did not ever exist. No one will mourn for you, because no one will remember you. "

No offense intended, but what utter nonsense!!!

I will give you a few examples of why your logic, for want of a better description, is totally flawed, and as for mourning, many a murderer's mother has mourned the execution of their son, even forgiving his transgressions. I find it extraordinary how Christians continue to say they follow the word of God yet so few of them put into practise the major law of God, forgiveness!

As for examples of those who should be in Hell, or I hope will be, although not mourned, they are all remembered;

HITLER...yeah, I think he would be in Hell, but everyone who suffered because of him and who fought him, their families and descendants, 60 years later, EVERYONE STILL REMEMBERS HITLER, that murdering bastard!

STALIN: Another bastard that surely deserves his place in Hell and is remembered, (see above).

CHENEY, RUMSFELD, WOLFAWITZ, BUSH Snr and Jnr: Without a doubt these mass murdering war mongers will be all cosied up in Hell when they die, and the entire world won't forget them for their evil deeds for a very long time afterwards!

I could go on...but I would further say that, taking the Bible so literally is a huge mistake, as we see throughout history, taking it literally has lead to huge social persecution and suffering, all in the name of God, (although it has nothing to do with God, and everything to do with mortal avarice) and it continues today, just look at the Middle East.

The Bible is a series of parables, stories, told in a way to help people have some insight into what they do, and to better themselves, even though it also supports killing your own son as a sacrifice to God, obviously that is not what one would do, would they? You must read between the lines, as they say, to understand what is being said.

So it is not to be taken literally.

Cheers

Clearly, Fog, you missed the whole point. Did you check any of the references? One thing about Truth B. Told is accuracy when it comes to quoting the Word.

As for your nasty remarks about President(s) Bush and the others, your comparison is very badly flawed. Of course that only proves that you can't be bothered with facts when you have a chance to blast your ridiculous agenda.

You show your ignorance of scripture Fog, unfortunately. Your hatred and intolerance of Christians shows through your uneducated insults and incorrect references. Therefore, I "will not cast my pearls before swine" and argue points of Christianity when you do not care enough about it educate yourself before going on such a rant. Please learn something about this topic if you wish to have a serious discussion.

Hell is ones own matter of opinion with any possible outcomes and an infinitly complex understanding

Hey T.B.T. you have done a wonderful job with this post. I have read some comments that are very mean spirited, and ignorant.

Hell is a place of punishment for the ones that refused the grace of God. Jesus came to earth suffered and died that we could miss that awful placed called hell.

It's a hard thing to get into hell, cause the way has been paid by the blood of Jesus. And a person will have to refuse the blood, grace, mercy, and calling of God, for the bible says many called, but few Chosen.

God has sent many out to witness to the lost, just as you do here on your blog, but people make light of it, and criticize you for telling the truth, just to save them from hell, they'll fight you all the way to get into hell.

They want you to tell them that God doesn't care what you do, and you don't have to live Christ like to make it to heaven, they want you to tickle their ears with jokes, and feel good stories, but if it isn't the word of God it won't get them out of their seat much less to heaven.

As far as the Book of Life one must first come to Christ, and then their name will be written in the Book of Life, and sin is the only thing that can blot it out. And as far as not remembering in Revelation it says that there will be no more sickness, death, sorrow, or crying for God himself will wipe the tears away and all things will be new.

I could not be happy if I knew my parents, children, brothers, sisters, grandparents, or spouse was in hell. And most assuredly we will be very happy there if we make it. So the only way I can imagine it is we will not remember for the former things are past away.

And as far as forgiving God will forgive if we ask and repent of our sins, and true Christians do practice forgiveness just look and how many times Christians have been attacked just on Orble, and every where else in the world today, but the bible does also speak about judging, and Christians have been judged a lot. But you don't hear much judging of other religions like Islam, and atheist, and yes atheism is a religion. One quick note about judging Islam, if you do you may get killed, maybe that's why they don't get judged cause they don't forgive and forget like Christians do.

And back to the remembering part, yes Hitler, and all that have long since been dead are still remember in this world, but they will be forgotten in the New Heaven and New Earth that is to come, but in hell they will remember all the evil they did. And they will be able to look over into heaven and see what they missed out on. Cause the rich man could see Abraham, and Lazarus.

Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to give you my support cause you do such a good job teaching the bible. God bless and keep up the good work.

I appreciate the long comment Lester- Very insightful for those who do not study often enough to know these things.

I have heard people say things to the effect of wanting to see a person they disliked roasting in hell. But, God loves His children and each person has been loved by someone. Scripture says that there is no suffering or sorrow- and watching people sizzle and scream would NOT be a peaceful heaven.

I think people forget how powerful God is. The blotting out refers to erasing our memories- we will have no clue who those people are after judgment when those who chose not to love God are cast into the lake of fire- it would be like they never existed, our memory of them will be blotted out.

Also, people do not realize that they will not roast there in pain and agony- they will be "turned to ashes from within" It is their eternity, but a short one. The "hell" I believe is the being on the wrong side of the gulf awaiting judgment day and knowing you did not make it. Seeing those with God and realizing that you are in with the most vilest offenders and evil people to have ever lived. Not being with God and in His presence but being separated by gulf you can not cross would be hell. The anticipation of knowing where your choices have led you has to be among the worst feelings ever. Weeping and gnashing of teeth, I think fill that side of paradise as they wait their final judgment and the sentence of death.

Thank you Lester, I always welcome and value your insights into scripture as well. God Bless you and your family during this Christmas season.

Thank you too SL, God Bless you as well =~)
