New Year’s Resolutions
January 31st 2008 16:04
As Christians we first need to realize that we all can use change for the better. No one is perfect and there are a few issues that every person can improve on. Here is an outline of how we can better ourselves and become a better person in today’s world. A supporting scripture (from the Holy Bible) will help explain each resolve.
1)Love conquers all. We need to remember to practice it always and not be consumed with anger and hate. (Matthew 22:38-40)
2)Use our time wisely. (Ephesians 5:16-17)
3)Do our work happily. Don’t begrudgingly work but do it with a happy nature. (Colossians 3:23)
4)In all that we do, consider the consequence of each action. It is important not to adopt the “if it feels good do it” attitude. Sins are still sins and there is no scale as to the least or greatest of them. (Galatians 6:7-8)
5)Stop picking fights. We need to step back and let God fight our battles for us when we are having no luck getting through to another person.(Romans 12:17-19)
6)Do not slander anyone. We need to stop the wickedness of our tongues including rumors and gossip. There is no use for slander other than to hurt another person. (Proverbs 26:20)
7)Pray about everything! Let God lead you and allow Him to help make the tough decisions in your life. You don’t need to fear a situation, ‘freak out’ or stress, instead have faith and in prayer to God. (Philippians 4:6-7 / I Thessalonians 5:17-18)
8)Don’t allow sin to control your life. In this world where people are insisting that there is no right or wrong, only ‘choice’ it is easy to get caught up in the evil lies that consume the earth. (Romans 6:1-20)
9)Realizing that we all make mistakes is the first step in LEARNING from them. If we are going to grow more in wisdom and faith then we need to learn from our mistakes.(Luke 15:17-21)
10)And lastly, we should make sure every attitude and action is made with love. Sometimes it is easy to get mad as say on do things that are wrong and driven by anger. Christians should be lights unto the world. (I Corinthians 13:4-8)
