Paul’s Power, Purpose and Plan
July 11th 2010 19:04
We took a little break for a while on the in depth study in Romans, as we will again here and there. Getting back to this analysis of scripture please turn with me to Romans 1: 16-17. This scripture study will be in two parts. Today let’s just focus on Paul’s power, purpose and plan. During the next study we’ll go into his pledge and the product of the gospel.
Imagine if you will, you are in Paul’s time and his shoes. He was a Jew that preached about Jesus being our Savior. At that point in time Jews were not very accepting to this message. But Paul stood firm. Have you ever known that something could bring you trouble or pain if you stood up for it, yet you did it anyway?
Paul knew that not everyone would understand him and that he could run into physical pain, humiliation or even death, but he preached his message of the gospel. What gave him that power to do it, unafraid of the outcome? This power is something that can not come from man. It is a peace and deep understanding that God is in control and without this message souls could not be saved. God is larger than everything, our faith is supernatural. God grants us power to not only be unafraid amidst danger but continue on our purpose which is a mission. We will draw on His power throughout our mission until we complete it.
The plan of the gospel is simple in this respect: Salvation is given to each and every person who believes. It is a gift from God. This gift comes by faith. If we truly believe then we follow Christ and lead other to His saving grace.
