Prayer and God’s Will
June 6th 2008 18:12
We are called to pray for our fellow man. When there is a need or an issue no matter how big or small it is important to pray. By prayer you are accepting God’s will for the outcome regardless of your own desires and what you think should occur as a result.
I have heard some say you shouldn’t pray for what you want or situations only that God’s will works there. But, to open up to God and tell Him what you are praying for serves a purpose. Imagine your child comes up to you. You ask “what kind of ice cream do you want?” They respond, “what ever you want.” To which you say, “I would like to know what can get you?” The child says, “It doesn’t matter, I don’t care what ever you want me to have is fine.”
Do you see the problem? Accepting God’s will in every situation is mandatory for Christians and we must fully understand that sometimes it won’t go the way we want because it is not about us but it is all about God’s will and the way things go to serve His divine plan. So, don’t be afraid to open up and tell God your problems and ask Him to intervene and yes, tell Him what you want and why. Even if it doesn’t go your way, things will be revealed to you through God’s love and it will show that you do care.

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
chapter 4 verses 14-15 says : And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him.
The Book of James chapter 4 verse 3 talks about praying amiss, Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
I believe we should go to God in prayer, and talk to him from our hearts, just like you would a dear friend, open up and pour your heart out to him. Tell him what you need, and desire, because if we are Christians we will not be asking of things of the world anyway.
