Romans 8: Once we are Delivered we can See the Differences

May 18th 2011 20:15

Back into Romans. Today, we'll be looking into chapter 8:1-17. After reading let's see what we can take away from these passages.

Verses 1-4 show us that we are delivered from the sentence, slavery and sickness of sin.
Verses 5-13 point to the differences in the mind, the motives, morality and spirituality of the believer.
Verses 14-17 makes us aware of the delights in our adoption, assurance and affluence.

What is affluence? Wealth beyond measure. Scripture says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” For more on this read Philippians 4:19

What does this mean for us? It means that once we are adopted we belong to His family. Which means we must take on the traits of our family because we have been delivered from our old family of problems and destruction and are now delivered into a new position and freedom. We need to act like it if we have truly embraced it. We should not disgrace our family and strive to disappoint- but rather to please, love and obey.
