A Common Misconception About Sin and Forgiveness
February 29th 2008 16:35
I have heard many people in my travels of life say that no matter what sin they choose to commit they are automatically forgiven because of Jesus Christ. These people are using Christianity without actually being a Christian which is not good.
Forgiveness should never be used as a tool to take away responsibility. It is not an excuse to continue sin either. Yes, Jesus came to forgive man and pay the price so that we may all know God’s undying love and mercy… but, that doesn’t mean that we can behave however we want and all will be forgiven.
Firstly, we must repent our sins and ask for forgiveness. Secondly, to ask for forgiveness means to realize that our actions are wrong and then NOT do them again. John 8 “Go and sin no more”
