Today, let's read Romans 7. Then let's go through and take it apart piece by piece and see what it means.
In verses 1-6, we see the symbolic relationship between us and Christ as that of a husband and bride. The symbolism refers to marriage as with many other areas of scripture. It is a holy union, blessed and sanctified, and it is a loving, beneficial relationship.
In verse 1 notice the power of the law.
Verse 2-3 displays the picture of the law.
In verse 4 we see a new freedom, family and fruitfulness.
Verse 5-6, shows the old life in sin and the new life in spirit.
We have been released from the law being what determined our salvation because we serve a new master in a new life.
Verse 7 shows that the law reveals sin.
Verse 8-9, the law revives sin.
Verse 10-11 the law is hard for sinners to follow.
Verse 12-13, the law is good, holy and just.
Verse 14, the law is spiritual.
Verses 15-25, Paul states his failures, findings and his victory.
Remember that Saul was struck down on the road to Damascus and became Paul who went forward and worked for God the Father and our Lord Christ from that moment on.
