The Effects of Coveting
May 13th 2009 02:10
This is a follow up to the previous post on “coveting”. I wanted to take a deeper look into this action and what can come of it. Many believe this act to be harmless and a “way of life” but it isn’t.
Desire is a feeling and we should have it, but it should be used for good; the desire to do good deeds, the desire to make others happy, the desire to follow God. But Satan has twisted this emotion for evil.
Let’s look at the things that a covetous nature can breed:
1. vanity
2. greed
3. obsession
4. exploitation
5. court battles
6. fights
7. theft
8. jealousy
9. vandalism
We should always ask this question when we are faced with desire: is it need or greed?
Reading:
James 1:13
1 Kings 21
