The Things That Jesus Suffered

April 10th 2008 03:06
We all know that Jesus suffered greatly for us, but do we actually realize all that He went through? Let’s take a look and learn more of His sacrifice.

Before He was caught and crucified He endured: Temptations, accusations, rejection, He was ridiculed, scoffed at, and He suffered great anxiety.

During His punishment for teaching love and Godly principals He sweat blood, was abandoned by His friends, agonized in prayer, was betrayed, beaten, whipped, blasphemed, denied, false charges were brought against Him, He endured horrific, abuse (physical, mental and emotional) He was mocked, nailed to a cross, stripped of His clothes and endured 6 long hours of pain before dying.

Some medical accounts say that what actually ended His life was a ruptured heart… it brings new meaning to the term “broken heart” doesn’t it?

I watched "The Passion of the Christ" with my grandkids. What a wrenching movie. It really brings the message home, though.

Whenever I think I'm being treated unfairly, I always remind myself about the unfair treatment that Jesus suffered. Not only did he face all those things you mentioned, but he did so because he loved the very people who were treating them in this way, because he came to give his life for them. Can you imagine what it would have been like to have been on the cross, starting at the people ridiculing you, knowing that you were up on that cross for them?

Thanks for commenting everyone! Yes, it is a sobering experience to imagine what our Lord had went through- especially when you look at all the wickedness still thriving in the world. Heart breaking.
