The Truth About Lying

There are so many gray areas surrounding the act of lying and now days it seems to get more and more blurred with each passing day. W are teaching our children through our society and personal views that lying is acceptable. This is breeding more rampant lying and is driving more people away from God.
Types of lies: deliberate, slanderous, malicious, defensive, half truths, lying to ourselves (trying to find justifications for our personal evil practices), blaming others, and lying to God.
Satan is the father of lies we read in the bible and all who practice his works are living a wicked and filthy life. (John 8:44) There is a list of six things that God hates and seven that are detestable to Him, and yes I said ‘hates’- one of which is a liar (Proverbs 6:16). In John 17:17we can learn how to stop the lying and lead a righteous life by walking in the light.

As a minister I ask this question from time to time, how many lies does it take to make you a liar? My answer is just one.
Satan is the father of liars so who do we want to be our father, a liar or the truth for the Bible says let God be true and every man a liar.
