What is Faith?
June 6th 2010 16:43
Some people still do not understand what faith is. The concept escapes them. So today I am posting one simple lesson that clearly defines faith from scripture.
Hebrews 11:1: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Remember that God is not a God of possibility but the God of the impossible. The Christian faith is a supernatural religion. Looking throughout the scripture and reading that which has been chronicled since the dawn of time maps out things that are not of this world. From the beginning of man, to delivering the ten plagues of Egypt, parting the Red sea, to fulfilled prophecy, to Jesus’ miracles of healing diseases which can’t possible be healed, resurrecting the dead, walking on water calming a raging storm, etc. Although we have not actually seen these things we know that they did happen. Throughout various cultures there have been records of these things that reinforce what scripture tells us. For those that lived these times of greatness, it was miraculous and awe inspiring history being made- but for us, it is by faith that we believe and understand that with is true.
