What Type of Shepherd is YOUR Pastor/Priest?

September 11th 2011 18:17

Scripture talks a lot of false prophets and false teachers. The world is full of them. There are countless examples of what we should be watchful for. In Revelation we are told that Jesus was only happy with 2 churches... only two! We can tell from prophecy that most “Christians” will follow Satan- and with the fact that only 2 churches are pleasing to God in the end times, it only stands to reason that most churches today are not doing as they were commissioned. But, how can you tell who is who and what church is pleasing to God? It is very simple.

First, does you church preach the scripture, book by book, chapter by chapter and verse by verse? Or do you hear only a few short verses and then the preacher talks for ½ an hour or an hour on whatever topic he/she chooses? This is a clear indication which church you are sitting in. A person who would rather preach their own philosophies and opinions rather than teach the word of God says a lot about the type of teaching you are absorbing.

Secondly, we are always to let God judge people, His word- not us and not our own words. However, a lot of “religious” people feel as though they have to stick with like minded people whereby they trash and bash other pastors by name or affiliation if they are not with their “denominational” organization, doctrinal teaching, etc. If a person feels they owe their allegiance to specific groups of people, doctrines and practices above God's chosen teachers, that shows that they are not mature Christians that are willing to throw out their own egos and pride for the teaching of God's word. If a person is teaching the Bible no Christian is allowed to hurt their reputation, character or person- at least not as far as God is concerned. Gossip, slander, libel and defaming a Christian will happen but it should never happen by people claiming to be Christians.

If these things happen in your church then you may want to assess where you fellowship if God is truly who you seek to learn and serve.
